KAKICHIHO is
concentrated liquid of Kakishibu. It is about double it strength of the standard
liquid thus enable to prepare itself into compact sizes and saving transport
fees to achieve user-friendliness. You are recommended to dilute by adding water
ratio of 1 to 2 until 1 to 20 depending on your purpose and like. Small
pre-trial tests may be carried out to ensure that the actual matching of color,
hardness and drape on your products. Once drying out the products, the KAKICHIHO
color will never wash out, so you are advised to start high dilution ratio on
the concentrate liquid and changing the ratio accordingly then recoating till
you satisfied and achieve the desire color.

There are variety of ways
for dying by Kakishibu such as soaking, spraying, hand writing, screen printing
and also use brushes or sponges to apply on un-tinted flat and thick materials
like leathers, papers, woods and jeans.

Kakishibu does not react to
mordant unlikely other plant-dying products. It has a good reacting properties
to iron and the color change instantly from brown to light grey then to charcoal
grey depending on the thickness of Kakishibu. Mixing with titanium will change
to orange color. Soaking into dilute alkali liquid makes it color stable and
soften.

For drying we recommend Drying in shade or Hot-air drying.
However Drying it in the sun could be faster but it may get uneven color or
different drape result of uneven sunlight. When dry it in shade it should be
laid on the flat until almost no liquate moisture then hang on the pole for
about 24 to 72hours depending on its results. For Hot-air drying we should apply
70 to 80℃and monitoring it for 1 to 3hours then leave it for 24 to 72 hours.

Kakishibu tannin oxidized in the presence of air and harden the
materials and deepen it color. It is important to have experiments to change the
conditions like temperatues, humidity’s and wind and so on.

After
attaining the right color completely, it can be washed in water but careful
monitoring is required.
